Group Fare Flight Ticket: Why PNR Looks Wrong
Your flight is real. Your booking is safe. Here is why the PNR sometimes plays tricks.
If you booked a cheap flight through us, and then checked the airline's own website and saw no PNR, no name, or a different code than what we gave you, do not panic. This happens often with a certain type of cheap fare called a group fare. It can happen on any airline and any route, whether domestic within India or international, including Dubai. It is not a mistake and it is not a scam. This page explains exactly why it happens, in plain language.
Why This Flight Is So Cheap
When many people travel on the same route around the same dates, an operator can buy a block of seats from the airline in advance, at a lower rate than the normal public price. This is called a group fare, a series fare, or a block booking. The operator takes the risk. If those seats do not sell, the operator loses money, not you. That is why they are motivated to pass on a genuinely good rate to you, even at the last minute.
This is the trade-off. You get a real saving. In exchange, the booking process behaves a little differently from a normal ticket you buy directly from the airline.
Why Your PNR Might Look Empty or Different
A PNR is the airline's booking code. For a group fare, it does not always behave the way a normal PNR does. Two things commonly happen:
1. Placeholder names come first
When the block of seats is first booked, the airline's system often holds them under placeholder names, not real passenger names, until the operator finalises exactly who is travelling. Real names usually get added only 12 to 72 hours before departure. Until then, checking the airline website can show nothing at all under your name. This is a documented, standard step, not an error.
2. The code itself can change
Group bookings run through the same back-end systems all travel companies use. These systems normally allow only 9 passengers per booking code. Anything bigger has to be split or reissued into a fresh code to fit everyone in properly. This is routine on the airline's side. But it does mean the code you were first given can genuinely change before departure.
In both cases the fix is simple: your travel agent always holds the correct, current PNR. Message us anytime and we will confirm it in minutes.
Why the Same Flight Shows on MakeMyTrip, Yatra and Other Sites Too
The block of seats bought by the operator is often spread across many booking platforms at once, including the big portals. So it is completely normal to see what looks like the same flight appearing slightly differently in different places. It is one shared pool of seats being sold through several doors. This is not double booking and it is not a red flag.
The Ok to Board (OTB) Catch: Plan for This
This part applies only if your group fare flight is going to Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE. If you are flying on an e-visa or a visa copy, the airline must mark your booking Ok to Board (OTB) before you can check in. To do this, the airline needs to see your name and confirmed PNR on their own system.
Here is the catch with group fares: since your name may only attach to the booking around 24 hours before departure, the OTB can only be filed after that happens. This is a tight window. Refund Rules: One Important Exception
Group fares are usually 100% non-refundable and non-changeable once booked. This is standard across the industry and is how the low price is possible.
The one exception: if the airline itself cancels or reschedules the flight, you get a full refund. That protection never goes away, no matter how the fare was booked.

Is this a scam if I cannot find my booking on the airline's website?
No. This is one of the most common and well documented situations in air travel. Millions of group fare tickets work exactly this way, every single day, across every major airline.
Why do I have to contact my travel agent instead of the airline directly?
Because for a group fare, the agent is the one holding the live, correct PNR. The airline's public website is built for individual bookings and does not always show group fare passengers clearly, especially before names are finalised.
Can I change my travel dates on a group fare ticket?
No. Group fares are non-changeable. If your dates are not fixed, tell us before booking and we can look at a flexible fare instead, usually at a higher price.
Does the group fare work only for Dubai flights?
No. Group fares exist on any sector and any airline, domestic or international. Delhi to Mumbai, Ahmedabad to Bangkok, Mumbai to Dubai, anywhere seats are sold in blocks. The PNR behaviour on this page is the same everywhere.
Will I still get my Dubai visa processed on this ticket?
Yes. We use your confirmed group PNR for your visa application exactly the same way as any other ticket. The visa process is not affected.
How will my Ok to Board (OTB) get done if my name shows up so late?
