A confirmed Dubai visa alone does not guarantee boarding. If your case needs OK to Board (OTB) and it's missing from your PNR, the airline can turn you away
Every year travellers with a completely valid, approved Dubai visa are turned away at the check-in counter. Not because the visa is fake or expired, but because their PNR was never marked "OK to Board" by the airline. This page explains exactly what OTB is, who actually needs it, the traps that catch people (especially group fare bookings), and how JAS handles it end to end.
OTB is a verification message the airline adds to your flight booking (PNR) after checking that your UAE visa is genuine and matches your travel documents. It is not part of the visa itself, it is a separate airline-side check done before boarding. If OTB is required for your case and missing from your PNR, check-in staff are permitted to deny boarding, even with a valid visa in hand.
OTB required: Passengers travelling from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh to the UAE holding a copy of the UAE visa or an e-visa need the OK to Board message on their reservation.
OTB NOT required: Passengers carrying the original visa document, meaning a stamped or sticker visa physically inside the passport, do not need OTB.
Also exempt: Sticker visas for employment or residence do not need OTB, even if the passport is ECR (Emigration Check Required) status.
1. Confirmed tickets with PNR for BOTH onward and return journeys. One-way is not enough.
2. Valid visa copy.
3. Your PNR must be visible on the airline's own portal. This is where many travellers get stuck, see the group ticket warning below.
Many clients book group fare or pre-purchased tickets through online portals. These tickets are fully valid, but there is a catch: the ticket purchaser often updates the passenger names on the group PNR only on the last day, or 24 hours before departure.
Until the names are updated, your PNR will not show on the airline's website at all. You cannot search it, you cannot verify it, and critically, OTB cannot be processed. That leaves a dangerously narrow window to get OTB done before your flight.
If you have a group fare ticket and a Dubai visa copy, contact us early. We will tell you exactly when your PNR becomes workable and handle OTB the moment it does.
1. Share your approved visa copy and confirmed onward + return tickets (PNR) with us on WhatsApp.
2. We forward everything to your airline for verification, ideally 3 days before travel.
3. The airline checks the visa against your PNR and enters the OTB mark, typically within 2 to 3 working days.
4. We confirm the OTB status back to you before your travel date.
Fees: we charge a fee depending on the airline, and only if OTB is actually required for your case. We tell you the exact amount upfront before proceeding.
Express OTB is available same day when you're short on time. One important check first: national holidays in both the UAE and India slow down processing, so before relying on same-day OTB, confirm with us that no holiday falls on your processing day. We check this for you as part of the service.
Flight change = new OTB. If you change your flight and the PNR changes, OTB must be done again from scratch, and new fees apply.
No refund once OTB is done. Even if your flight is later cancelled, the OTB fee is not refundable.
In-person option exists. You can also get OTB done yourself by visiting the nearest office of your departure airline, 2 days prior to departure.
Rules change frequently. OTB requirements are updated by airlines and authorities without much notice. If you applied your visa through JAS, we track the current rules for you, that's part of what you're paying for.
Does every Dubai traveller from India need OTB?
No. OTB applies to travellers from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh carrying a visa copy or e-visa. If you hold the original stamped/sticker visa in your passport, you do not need OTB. Send us your visa on WhatsApp and we confirm your requirement free.
How long does OTB take?
Usually 2 to 3 working days after the airline receives your documents. Express same-day OTB is available, subject to no UAE or India national holidays on the processing day. Submit documents at least 3 days before travel where possible.
What does OTB cost?
The fee depends on your airline, and is charged only if OTB is actually required for your case. We quote the exact amount before you commit. Note that the fee is non-refundable once OTB is processed, even if the flight is cancelled later.
I booked a group fare online and can't find my PNR on the airline website. Is my ticket fake?
Most likely no, your ticket is valid. Group fare purchasers often update passenger names on the PNR only 24 hours before departure, and until then the PNR won't appear on the airline site. The real problem is this delays your OTB. Contact us early and we'll manage the timing.
I changed my flight after OTB was done. Am I still covered?
No. A new PNR means OTB must be redone, with fresh fees. Factor this in before changing flights close to departure.
Can I do OTB myself without an agent?
Yes, you can visit your departure airline's nearest office 2 days before departure with your visa and tickets. Many travellers prefer we handle it remotely so there's no office visit and no guesswork on current rules.
Send us your visa copy and ticket, we confirm your OTB requirement and quote the exact fee, no charge for checking, no obligation.
