Your stay starts the day you land, not the day your visa is issued
Every week travellers ask us the same question: "My visa was issued on this date, so when exactly do I have to leave Dubai?" The confusion is understandable, because a Dubai visa actually runs on two separate clocks, and most websites either mix them up or quote the wrong numbers. Here is how it really works, in plain language, with real examples.
From the date your Dubai visa is issued, you have 58 days to enter the UAE. This is your entry deadline, nothing more. It does not decide how long you can stay, it only decides by when you must arrive.
If you do not enter the UAE within these 58 days, the visa expires unused and you would need to apply fresh.
Your stay duration, up to 30 or 60 days depending on the visa you chose, is counted from the day you actually enter the UAE. Not from the visa issue date. This is the part most people get wrong.
So a visa issued weeks ago has not "used up" any of your stay days. Your holiday clock only starts at Dubai immigration, the day you land.
| Rule | Single Entry | Multiple Entry |
|---|---|---|
| Entry window | 58 days from issue | 58 days from issue |
| Stay duration starts | Day you enter UAE | Day of your first entry |
| Exit and return | Visa ends on exit | Re-enter freely within the window |
| Stay clock on re-entry | Not applicable | Keeps running from first entry, never resets |
On a Multiple Entry visa, your 30 or 60 days start once, from your first entry into the UAE. Within that period you can exit and re-enter as many times as you like, for Oman, Abu Dhabi cruises, or a quick trip home. Re-entering does not restart your stay, the clock keeps running from your first entry date.
Example 1, Ajay Malhotra, 30-day Single Entry: His visa is issued on 1 January, so his entry window runs till 27 February. He flies to Dubai on 15 January. His 30-day stay starts on 15 January, which means he must exit by 13 February. The two weeks between issue and travel cost him nothing.
Example 2, Priya Nair, 60-day Multiple Entry: Her visa is issued on 1 January. She enters Dubai for the first time on 10 January, so her 60 days run from 10 January to 10 March. She exits on 20 January for a short trip, re-enters on 5 February, exits again, and returns once more in early March. All these trips are allowed on her one visa, because they all fall within her 60-day period that started on 10 January.
Yes. Legally you can enter the UAE on day 58 itself and you will still receive your full stay duration from that date.
That said, we always advise our guests to plan entry 2 to 3 days before the window closes. Flight delays, cancellations, or a last-minute change should never be the reason a perfectly good visa goes to waste.

What is the difference between Dubai visa validity and stay duration?
Your Dubai visa has a 58-day entry window from the date of issue, which is your deadline to enter the UAE. Your actual stay duration, up to 30 or 60 days depending on your visa, is counted separately, starting from your date of entry into the UAE, not from the issue date.
Does my 30 or 60 day stay start from the visa issue date?
No. Your stay duration starts only from the day you actually enter the UAE. Days between visa issue and your travel date do not reduce your stay.
On a Multiple Entry visa, does my stay reset every time I re-enter?
No. Your 30 or 60 days start once, from your first entry into the UAE. You can exit and re-enter freely within that period, but the clock keeps running from your first entry date and never resets.
Can I enter the UAE on the last day of my 58-day window?
Yes, legally you can enter on day 58 itself and still get your full stay duration. We advise entering 2 to 3 days earlier to keep a buffer against flight delays.
How do I find my exact last entry date?
Message us on WhatsApp at +91 98989 93911. We confirm the last valid entry date for all our guests free of charge, for as long as the visa remains valid.
